Shadforth Cottage Preschool operates from 7.30am – 6pm, Monday to Friday 51 weeks of the year and caters for children aged from 4-5 years. The Preschool is based in a separate Cottage with access from both Avenue Rd and Shadforth St in Mosman. The cottage is designed to provide a stimulating learning environment and consists of an open plan setting with construction and literacy rooms, accessible children’s bathroom, outdoor area, and planting garden.
The preschool provides a vital part in the development of your child and their transition into primary school. The children’s learning is guided by a team of highly qualified and experienced teachers, with a strong focus on social-emotional development, friendships, and a sense of community, whilst incorporating a literacy, numeracy and science program that prepares your child for school.
Families will have the flexibility to choose between long day care (7:30 am to 6 pm all year) or the 9am to 3 pm hours. Families can commence enrolment at any time during the year for Preschool and will be able to have additional casual days subject to availability. This gives families options which are often not available at traditional 9am-3pm Preschools.
Our school readiness program has been developed using both the Early Years Learning Framework and NSW Kindergarten curriculum, creating a strong link between the early learning environment and formal schooling.
- We are Mathematicians
- We are Scientists
- We are Artists
- We are Communicators
- We are a Community
- We are Active
The curriculum is delivered through a balance of teacher directed experiences and child initiated learning. Intentional teaching is deliberate and purposeful whilst also offering opportunities for collaborative learning through sustained shared thinking and problem solving.
The preschool participates in a number of additional activities which supports their school readiness program including:
- GrowFit
- Yoga
- Languages
The children also take part in a number of excursions and incursions throughout the year and enjoy their own garden where they learn about the natural world.
